I LOVE shaping surfboards and I'm kinda obsessed with this craft. Even though I am about to shape my 243th board I'm still considering myself as a novice but I hope to become a master one day... This blog is a virtual portfolio and a diary of my journey in the shaping world. Feel free to leave comments or contact me directly at valerie@meremadesurfboards.com.

A 2 week shaping workshop with SWOP

Training with David Charbonnel in my own shaping room: priceless.

No need to say that I am on a little cloud (of foam dust!) as I just spent 15 days with my dear friends and favorite shaper/artist in the whole world: the SWOP team! For who follows my blog, it might be a repeat but I can't stop telling everyone that David Charbonnel is the best french shaper. His business of custom surfboards located in Bordeaux, South of France, has been doing excellent for more than 20 years. He is partnered with his life partner, Fred Seyral, who is behind all the beautiful artworks. I can't recommend more to follow their blog as it is just exquisite so see their amazing boards: http://swopsurfboards.blogspot.com

They stayed at my house for a couple of weeks. It was like the boot camp of shaping: I now feel stronger and confident on my techniques and soon I'll be able to work faster on a board. I think that I am getting ready for a business-like mode in case I decide to go for it one day... which led to the creation of a Facebook page! Blogger friends, we have now the opportunity to be also FB friends! Please send me a friend request!

Fred and David: I can't thank you enough for the fantastic opportunity. Believe me, I know how fortunate I am to be a SWOP trainee... I feel like having won the lottery. THANK YOU!!!
